Frequently Asked Questions

Below is a list of the most common questions we receive. If you're questions aren't answered here, please contact us.

What is Transport Insurance Cost?

Each harp must leave Lyon & Healy insured in the event that there is any damage in shipping. This only means it is insured in transit. If you wish for your harp to be insured once you have accepted delivery, you must purchase that separately. Lyon & Healy does not insure harps.

Why doesn't your website display the exact shipping amount?

The shipping cost is based upon the shipping distance, as well as gas prices and tariffs, which can change daily.

Will cosmetic blemishes be repaired?

These harps are to be sold "as is". Other than checking for any structural flaws and performing a regulation, we do not do any cosmetic repairs on these harps. If a structural flaw is mentioned in the harp's description, a close-up photo has been provided. If you are interested in getting an estimate for having a cosmetic blemish repaired by us, we will be happy to provide an estimate. Unfortunately, we cannot "hold" the harp during the time that an estimate is being generated (this means someone else could buy the harp in the meantime). If you decide to have the repair work done, the harp must be bought in full and the repair down payment made before the work can begin.

What is a Regulation?

A standard regulation from Lyon & Healy includes: inspection of the base including pedal levers, springs, greasing, checking pedal rods and connections, adjusting rod length/overmotion and changing pedal and slot felts; adjustment of string/disc positioning; noise control; calibrate the intonation of intervals and overall inspection of body, frame, neck, column, and mechanism.

Where do CPO harps come from?

Harps are brought back to Lyon & Healy either from its Bounty Program (in which a smaller harp is turned in towards the purchase of a bigger harp) or because they were lightly played at demonstrations, exhibits, workshops or recitals.

What does the warranty include?

It warrants to the original purchaser that the harp is free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service for a certain period of time. The warranty specifically excludes strings, finish and season checks in the wood, normal maintenance such as tuning or regulation and the result of normal wear, and any harp damaged in transit or subjected to improper care or handling, alteration, abuse or accident. Ask for more details.

What is the Rent to Own Program?

Lyon & Healy offers a Rent to Own Program, which provides beginning harpists an affordable opportunity to purchase a new lever or Style 85 Petite pedal harp after a six-month trial period. At the end of six months, there is the option to either return the instrument or purchase it directly. If the rented harp is purchased directly, Lyon & Healy will apply the 6 month rental fee toward the purchase price of the instrument.

What is the Bounty Program?

The Lyon & Healy Bounty Program allows customers that bought a Lyon & Healy lever harp or Style 85 Petite pedal harp (that is less than five years old, in fair condition and traded in by the original owner) to trade their harp towards the purchase of any new Lyon & Healy lever or pedal harp of greater value. Other conditions apply. Ask for details.

How long does it take for my harp to be delivered?

A harp shipment typically takes 3 to 5 days in the continental US, and outside the US 7 to 10 days. Inclement weather and/or temperatures below 32°F or above 90°F can delay shipping.
